Lebohang Mlambo

Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI)

Lebohang Mlambo is a PhD candidate at the University of the Witwatersrand and AHRI in Durban, South Africa. She holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, and her research background spans HIV and TB-related health studies, including behavioural interventions and community-based public health research across South Africa. Her work draws on both qualitative and quantitative methods to generate evidence that supports improved health outcomes.

Nested within the ASTRA study, Lebohang's PhD examines which individual, household, community and climate factors shape vulnerability to extreme weather over time and how this relates to mortality in rural communities, alongside whether the healthcare facilities vulnerable communities rely on stay functional when extreme weather strikes. Focused on KwaZulu-Natal, a recognised heat-stress and flood hotspot, her research draws on both community and health-facility perspectives to support more targeted adaptation strategies and provide evidence to inform resilient health policy and planning.
